What to Expect
Our Training Season is six weeks, built around your long-term growth, not just a job. It opens and closes with a week of orientation and wrap-up, with the core training in between.
-
Week 1: Orientation. Two days of leadership development focused on understanding who you are and the value you bring.
-
Weeks 2-5: Hands-on training in your skill area, plus a weekly visit from a business owner to talk through the job and what they look for in employees. One week is set aside for business skill development, and some students may train with one of our partner businesses.
-
Week 6: You complete a final project or assignment and present it at graduation.
You'll Learn
-
Real, hands-on skills in construction and the trades
-
Business management basics
-
Leadership through the practice of servant leadership
-
How to talk with employers and build a resume
Getting Paid
You're not just learning, you're earning. Students receive a $15/hour stipend during hands-on training, funded through our Wishing Well Fund.
Why It Starts With Strengths
Before anything else, you'll take a Clifton Strengths assessment. It's the first step in seeing yourself as a leader, not just a trainee, and it shapes how your mentor works with you throughout the program.
After You Graduate
Graduation isn't the end. We connect students with potential employment through our partner businesses, the same people you'll meet and work alongside during training.
Who Can Apply
High school students, college-aged students, and young adults in Columbia, Missouri and the surrounding areas. No prior experience required, just bring your potential.
